
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964) is an American actress choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her breakthrough role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez's performance on Fearless (1993) earned her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as other accolades. Perez's starring roles in movies include It Could Happen to You (1994) and The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007), as well as Birds of Prey (2018). She also received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990-1994) and a third Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her role as The Flight Attendant. She has also appeared in Broadway stage plays , including The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. The 18th season was the time she also co-hosted on ABC's talk program The View. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. [11] In 1999 her mother was in poverty in Woodside Houses when she died from AIDS-related complications.
